Coreen Nye

Coreen Hopper Nye, age 76, of Hobbs, New Mexico died Sunday, August 11, 2024 surrounded by her family and loved ones after a long illness. 

Mrs. Nye was born in McCamey, Texas on August 19, 1947, along with her twin sister, Coleen, to Durwood Jiggs and Earlene Evans Hopper.

The family will be planning a memorial service at a later date. 

Coreen was a fearless daredevil. She loved to tell stories and make everyone laugh. Coreen adored cats, dogs, horses, and any animal she came across. Coreen grew up in the oilfields of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. She attended Eunice High School. She married Richard Darrell Nye on April 01, 1963 in Lovington, New Mexico. Coreen lived all over New Mexico including Raton, Las Vegas, Mt. Dora, Gallup, and Rio Rancho. She moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1976 where she worked for the Santa Fe New Mexican and St. Vincent’s Hospital.

Coreen is survived by her daughter: Ramona Nye of Austin, Texas. Son: Ashley Nye of Hobbs, New Mexico. Her twin sister: Coleen Bruce of Haltom City, Texas. Brother: Derril Hopper of Lubbock, Texas. Grandchildren: Jarred, Lindsey and Annalise Nye all of Hobbs, New Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews.

Coreen is preceded in death by her parents: Durwood and Earlene Hopper. Husband: Richard Nye. Sister: Betty Ann Bryum and her brother: Danny Hopper.
