David was born to the hardworking farm/oil field family of Emery and Lorene Reed of Kaw City Oklahoma on May 12, 1932. Later the family moved in various places in Northern Oklahoma. David Married Harriet Annin at the Apostolic Church of God of Webb City, Oklahoma on September 28, 1952.

Six weeks later he was drafted in the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean Conflict. At that time, Harriet moved to Eunice, New Mexico. There at 18 years of age, Harriet went to work for the city of Eunice. That employment lasted for the next 49 years. Upon David's honorable discharge, the young couple remained in Eunice as David became an employee of El Paso Natural Gas Co. for 35 years serving at oil center, Jal #4, and Jal General camp as maintenance Supervisor. Upon retirement, he then went to work for the Eunice housing authority as housing director where after 28 years he retired in 2013.

David and Harriet were founding members of the Eunice Assembly of God church. David and Harriet were dedicated throughout the duration of their lives to the success of their church. David served on the deacon board for over 60 years. Along with having served on the deacon board, he also taught Sunday school class for that same amount time.
