Donald Shannon

Donald Ray Shannon, age 83 of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away on March 17, 2021 surrounded by his family and loved ones. 

Mr. Shannon was born on May 24, 1937 in Shamrock, Texas to Willie Nathan Shannon and Jewel Fisher Kavanaugh.

Donald graduated from Hobbs High School in 1955. He went on to attended Texas A&M in Austin, Texas from 1956 to 1957. In August of 1958 he married his beautiful wife Bonnie.

Donald was part owner in a redi-mix concrete and aggregate product business. He was a master mechanic and a master of all trades. After Donald retired, he opened small boat repaid business. Donald’s favorite hobbies over the years were fishing and golf.

Donald was a very kind and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He made it a point to attend dance recitals, birthday parties, ceremonies, sports games, graduations, and everything else his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 62 years; Bonnie Dell Shannon also of Hobbs, New Mexico. Two children; Kathy Jones and husband Roy of Lone Star, Texas. and Son; Terry Don Shannon of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Three grandchildren; Heather Bice and husband Eric of Shreveport, LA; Samantha Simmons and husband Michael of Hobbs, NM; and Nathan Jones and wife Jessica of Hobbs, NM. Five great grandchildren; Brittaney Slater of Kansas City, Kansas. Kelsey Slater of Shreveport, LA., Jocelyn Moore of Hobbs, New Mexico; Thomas Jones of Hobbs, NM and Anna Jones of Hobbs, New Mexico. 

No services are planned at this time. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

 Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Calvary Memorial Funeral Home of Hobbs, New Mexico.
