Doris Fay Smith

Doris Fay Smith, age 86 of Spring, Texas passed away on Tuesday, July 06, 2021 at Methodist-Willowbrook Hospital in Houston, Texas. 
Ms. Smith was born on March 08, 1935 in Columbia, Missouri to Clyde and Zelma Morningstar. 
Funeral services for Doris will be on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Jal, New Mexico. Burial will follow to Kermit Cemetery. 
Doris is survived by her two daughters; Sabrina Patterson and husband Tim of Canton, Michigan and Malrena Lason and husband Chris of Spring, Texas. Eleven grandchildren and Twenty-Eight great grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband; Bobby W. Smith. Parents; Clyde and Zelma. Father and Mother in law; Wade and Ethel Smith. One son; Ricky A. Smith and wife; Maria Renteria Smith. One brother; Bill Morningstar and one great grandson; Kanean Garns.
Doris was a member of the First Baptist Church, Jal Senior Citizens and she worked for Jal public schools for many years. After retiring, Doris and husband Bobby loved to travel and spending time with their family, grand children, and friends. Doris was born in Columbia, Missouri, but she moved to Galveston Texas, Houston Texas, and Midland, Texas during her childhood. Doris and Bobby Smith got married in Roswell, New Mexico on October 09, 1952 and moved to Sandersville, Georgia then moved to Jal, New Mexico where she remained for 66 years before moving to Houston, Texas in 2019. Buried with Doris and Bobby is their beloved Boston Terrier named Rusty who passed away in June 2016. Doris' favorite love of service was Jesus Christ. She will missed by all who knew her and loved her. 
Funeral services are under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home in Hobbs, New Mexico.
