George Calvin Hull passed away peacefully at home in Hobbs in the presence of his son and daughter on September 27, 2021. He was looking forward to his 92nd birthday. George was born on September 29, 1929 in Tribune, Kansas to Grant and Ruth Hull and worked in the oilfield most of his life. While in Hobbs on a job in 1949 he met Iva Nell Appleton, they married and had three children, Janie, Jack and Lonny.
He settled in Bloomfield, New Mexico in the late 1970s and worked as a consultant in the oil business until his retirement. George had a large shop on his property and worked there daily until his 91st birthday. It was then that ill health forced his move to Hobbs where he lived with Janie.
George was preceded in death by his parents, a younger brother and an older sister, and his son Jack Hull of Hobbs who passed away two years ago.
He is survived by his son, Lonny and Angie Hull of Haslet, Texas who gave him two grandsons and a great granddaughter... Andrew Hull of Virginia and Matthew and Megan and Maggie Nell Hull of Haslet, Texas; and his daughter, Janie Eidson of Hobbs. Jack and Carolyn gave George two grandchildren and three great grandchildren... Jackson and Tiffany Hull and their children Kimberly and Randy Thompson and Bryce Hull all of Oregon. Susan and Hayden Parker and their children Jacklyn, Vivian and Jackson all of Hobbs. George is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Rommann of Wisconsin and his brother, Gary Hull of Iowa.
Memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Calvary Memorial Funeral Home in Hobbs on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
In the last year George accepted Jesus as his Lord and was given abundant grace to live out his final months.
The family thanks the staff of Encompass Hospice for their care and kindnesses this year, Chaplain Mike Adams for his timely life stories and scriptures and prayers... Dad looked forward to your visits and called you his friend. To his many nurses who enjoyed his banter and sharing their favorite chocolates with him, we thank you... you know who you are.
