Jack Day Hedgpeth

Jack Day Hedgpeth, age 93 of Odessa, Texas passed away December 31, 2022 at Odessa Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Hedgpeth was born June 04, 1929 to John Seamon Hedgpeth and Mary G. Morris in Montague, Texas.

Church services for Jack will be held Friday, January 06, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Church of Christ in Jal, NM with Pastor Daryl Micham officiating. Committal services will follow at Jal Cemetery. 

Jack is survived by his two daughters; Janet Lynn Hale of El Paso, Texas and Peggy Jean Whitefield of Odessa, Texas. Sister; Mary Lou Hurta of Hobbs. Three grandsons; Russ Hale and wife Christy of Lubbock, Texas. Curt Hale and wife Laura of Dallas, Texas and Daniel Whietfield of College Station, Texas. Granddaughter; Sara Whitefield of Midland, Texas. Four great great-grandchildren; Liliana Hale and Nathan Hale both of Lubbock, Texas. Juniper Hale and Stevie Hale both of Dallas, Texas. Three nephews; Jim Parrish and Keith Parrish both of Portales. New Mexico. Kenneth Parrish of Bryan, Texas and a niece; Cindy Hurta of Hobbs. 

Jack was preceded in death by his wife Minnie Hedgpeth. Parents; Seamon and Mary Hedgpeth. 

Jack moved to Jal, New Mexico in 1943. He graduated Jal High School in 1946 the he went on to attend Abilene Christian College until 1949 then started his 37.5 year career at El Paso Natural Gas as a Division Testing Engineer and retired on Nov 1, 1986. Jack was a dedicated member to his community. He was a member of the Jal Jaycees. Jack was the President and Coach of the Jal Little League Cardinals for many years. He was a member of the Lion's Club, and President of the Jal Booster Club. Jack was on the Jal Public Schools Board of Education and served on the Hospital Indigent Claim Board. Jack became a Elder at the Jal Church of Christ on May 8, 1988 until September 22, 2013. Jack had a memorable life and he will be missed by all those who knew him! 

Services are under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home in Eunice, New Mexico.
