Leticia Ruiz Utajara

Leticia Ruiz Utajara, age 62 passed away June 06, 2023 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Mrs. Utajara was born March 02, 1961 to Roberto Carrizal and Maria Ruiz in El Paso, Texas.

Visitation for Leticia will be Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Vida Nueva Church in Hobbs. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Vida Nueva Church located at 110 S. Jefferson St. with Pastor Luis Armando Ruiz (Brother) officiating. Committal services will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Leticia enjoyed life, family, and her friends. She had a heart of gold, and anyone who came in contact with her knew that. She was the most loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend anyone could ever meet. She loved life like no other, her smile would bring anyone happiness. Her grandchildren were her life, and so were her kids, including her son-in-law Jose Hernandez. She always put others first, and always did the best she could to help out others. She looked forward to her Sundays because all of her close loved ones would gather together to share love, hugs, and tears. Her daughter Brenda Hernandez was her bestfriend, and so was her adorable Bella (her doggy grandbaby). She loved her two sons like no other, always going above and beyond for them. She’s a memory that will never be forgotten. Her favorite hobbies were going to yard sales and to the casino. She is and will always remain a part of everyone’s lives.

Leticia is survived by her four children; Brenda Hernandez and husband Jose, Tommy Utajara, and Armida Valeriano and husband Andres Maldonado all of Hobbs. Christian Utajara and wife Krysta Chisum of Lovington. Three sisters; Carolina Ruiz of Hobbs. Lluvia Christina Guzman and Catherine Carrizal-Saenz and husband Michael Miller all of El Paso, Texas. Brother; Luis Armando Ruiz and wife Carmen Ruiz of Hobbs. Six grandchildren; Isaac Utajara and wife Harley Britton, Akira Utajara, and Kenji Utajara all of Hobbs. Yaresley Almodovar and Isaiah Almodovar both of Carlsbad. Petey Nickels III of Lovington. Great-grandchild; Braelynn Grace Utajara of Hobbs. 

Leticia was preceded in death by her husband; Tomas Utajara who passed away in 2021. Parents; Roberto Carrizal and Maria Ruiz. Brother; Antonio Ruiz. Sister; Irma Adams. 

Services are under the direction of Calvary Memorial Funeral Home of Hobbs, New Mexico.
