Maria de Jesus Chapa, age 72 of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away December 15, 2022 surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Mrs. Chapa was born September 17, 1950 to Encarnation Zamora and Aurora Garza in McAllen, Texas.

The family of Maria will be announcing a memorial service at a later date. Cremation will be taking place.

Maria is survived by her husband of 55 years; Pedro Chapa of Hobbs. Three children; Dina Jimenez of Mercedes, Texas. Maria de Jesus Santamaria of Kansas, and Noemi Chapa of Hobbs. Four sons; Juan Chapa of Hobbs. Andres Chapa and Pablo Chapa both of Iowa. Pedro Chapa Jr. of Donna, Texas. Three sisters; Nina Lopez, Lydia Esparza, and Lucilla Esparza. Four brothers; Jose Guadalupe Zamora, Andres Zamora, Dlejandro Zamora, and Florentino Zamora. 22 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents; Encarnation and Aurora. Daughter; Esmeralda Chapa. Sister; Nora Montanez. Brother; Israel Zamora.

Services are under the direction of Calvary Memorial Funeral Home of Hobbs. New Mexico.
