Rita E. Serna of Eunice, New Mexico passed away July 03, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was 96 years old.
Mrs. Serna was born May 22, 1930, to Valente and Dolores Estrada in Lucerne, Colorado. She was the youngest of six children.
Visitation for Rita will be Tuesday, July 07, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Calvary Funeral Home of Eunice, New Mexico. A prayer vigil will recite at 6 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, July 08, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church in Eunice, New Mexico. Committal burial will follow at Brunson Memorial Cemetery.
Rita is survived by her 8 children: Rosa Rodriguez, Martha Rangel, Rita Serna, Eduardo Serna, and Alfredo Serna all of Eunice. Socorro Serna of Hobbs. Belen Valdez of New Braunfels, Texas. Jose Serna of San Diego, Texas. 28 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 28 great great-grandchildren, and 4 great great great-grandchildren.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband: Eduardo Serna. Parents: Valente and Dolores Estrada. 3 sons: Gilberto Serna, Ramon Serna, Raymundo Serna, and two infant children. 5 siblings: Lorenzo Estrada, Seniado Estrada, Calendario Estrada, Estefana Paz, Maria Noriega.
Rita married the love of her life Eduardo Serna on August 8, 1945, in Saucillo, Chihuahua, Mexico and they had 13 children together. They lived in Sacuillo and Juarez, Mexico before moving to Alamogordo, New Mexico and then they settled in Eunice, New Mexico and was their home for 46 years. Rita was housewife who loved going to church and spending time with her family, gradening, and traveling to see her siblings and grandchildren. Rita was a big part of her family and the church community and while she lived an amazing 96 years on this earth, she will be greatly missed and forever loved by all those who knew her.
