Teddie "Ted" Taylor passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on June 13, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, at the young age of 86.
Ted was born on March 22, 1939, in Lookeba, Oklahoma, to Sherman Presley and Annie Kathrine Davenport Taylor. Throughout his life, he lived in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Missouri. After retiring in 2013, he resided in St. Joseph, Missouri, before returning to Eunice, New Mexico, where he lived until his passing. Ted was a skilled carpet installer, continuing the family business and teaching his sons and son-in-law the trade while instilling strong work ethics in his family. His pride in his craftsmanship was evident in his daily life.
On June 17, 1959, Ted married the love of his life, Sharon Jackson, who went home to Heaven on January 02, 2017. Together, they had five children: Dennis Taylor and wife Sandra of Mesa, AZ. Teddy and wife Linda of Eunice, NM. (Linda passed away on January 6, 2023) Jennifer Gibson and husband Wayne of Coleman, OK. April Transue and husband Ryan of Seminole, TX. Malinda LaDawn, who has been waiting in Heaven since November 1975.
He is survived by 24 grandchildren and their spouses, each with cherished memories, stories, and pranks of their “Pop,” along with 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. His legacy lives on through his family: Corey and wife Megan (5 children & 1 grandchild), Dusti (2 children), Brittany and husband James (1 child), Trae and wife Kylee (3 children), Paula and husband Jimmy (1 fur baby), Michael, Chris and wife Sabrina (4 children), John (1 child), Andrew (Boss) and wife Balinda (3 children), Nicholas and wife Chelsea (2 children), Natalya and husband Dallas (4 fur babies), Aidan (2 fur babies), Zachary and wife Mercedes (2 fur babies), Derrick (1 fur baby), and Jessica (Puddin) (1 fur baby). Out of his nine brothers and four sisters, Ted is survived by one brother, Leroy Taylor and wife Linda of Lakeland, FL. He leaves behind numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will cherish his memory.
Ted was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Sherman and Annie Taylor and his brothers: Son (William), Bud (Cecil J), Dow (Alvin), Elzie Jr (Presley), Don, Ray (Cecil Ray), and Timmy, as well as sisters Sis (Opal), Wanda, Ellen, and Nori (Elnor). He also had nieces and nephews who have gone before him and are waiting in Heaven.
Visitation for Teddie will be Monday, June 23, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Calvary Funeral Home in Eunice, NM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Funeral Home. Committal burial will follow at Brunson Memorial Cemetery.
Ted loved his family and friends deeply. He was always pleased to see them and welcomed them into his home for a visit. His legacy of love and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
