Tony Van Maanen

Tony Junior Van Maanen was born on January 14, 1939, to Gerrit and Wilhelmina (Van Den Hoek) Van Maanen in Douglas County, SD where his doctor drove a horse drawn sleigh over the snow to his farmhouse to deliver him. He went to heaven on February 12, 2023, to be with his Lord and Savior and his parents who he always missed very much.

He married the love of his life, Jeanette Davidson in 1961. He was known by everyone to be a hard-working, humble, kind, generous, patriotic man whom all could see driving his white pickup truck proudly flying the American flag. He worked in the oilfield related services at Chapparal and Basic after living and working many places and settling in Eunice, NM in 1982. He retired in 2020. He served on the board of deacons at many churches, lastly as a member of First Baptist church in Eunice. He was a beloved husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa and his family was so blessed to have him as the Godly Patriarch of their family.

Surviving Tony are his precious wife Jeanette who he fondly referred to as “his little one” and various other endearing names, his children Terry Van Maanen and wife Latrell of Durango, CO, Kevin Van Maanen and wife Liilia of Farmington, NM, Carmella Garrard and husband Calvin of Slaton, TX, Melissa Hooker and husband Mike of Bayfield, CO, Tamara Duff and husband Kevin of Hobbs, NM, Jonathan Van Maanen and wife Randi of Eunice, NM, Jason Van Maanen and wife Becky of Aurora, CO, and Debi Hayes and husband Marshall of Hobbs, NM, as well as 16 (and one on the way) grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter. He was loved and will be missed by so many and those who knew him were better for the experience. 

Visitation for Tony will be Friday, February 17, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Calvary Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice, New Mexico.

Church services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eunice with Pastor Dennis Teeter officiating. Committal services will follow at Brunson Memorial Cemetery. 

Services are entrusted to Calvary Funeral Home in Eunice, New Mexico.
