Vida Ousley Obituary

Vida Yvonne Ousley, of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away June 24, 2025, at Desert Springs Nursing Home. She just celebrated her 82nd birthday.

Ms. Ousley was born June 17, 1943, to Marcus Strickland and Lois Brown in Waco, Texas.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Vida is survived by her daughter: Shawna Dawkins and husband Charles of Seminole, Texas. Son in law: Curtis Hournbuckle of Hobbs. Four grandchildren: Nicole Lopez and husband Jaime, Preston Dawkins and wife Marissa, and Marcus Hournbuckle all of Hobbs. Kailea Hournbuckle of Midland, Texas. Nine great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Vida was preceded in death by her parents: Marcus and Lois Strickland and one daughter: Paula Hournbuckle.

Services are under the direction of Calvary Memorial Funeral Home of Hobbs, New Mexico.
